Hello there.
I’m Marcel, and this is Signal+Static—a quiet space for thinking about what it means to live inside systems. To move through tools, feedback loops, and the strange mesh of identity and interface.
Signal & Static lives in the tension between clarity and interference—signal and static.
It’s part logbook, part fieldnote, part invitation.
And a big part exploration.
After nearly a decade in UX, I’m using this space to reconnect with the sci-fi roots that first inspired me and to trace the lines between speculative futures and the interfaces we build today.
I’m also weaving this into something more personal and ongoing:
a desire to connect my current design practice with the cyborg theory that’s shaped my thinking for years. This space is part of how I expand that knowledge, deepen my awareness, and continue the research alongside whoever’s reading.
This is for designers and practitioners looking to inspire and root their practice.
This is for the cyborg-curious.
This is for fans of science fiction who want to make it real.
And it’s for people who are looking around—starting to notice just how infused they are with their technologies: the ones they’ve chosen, and the ones they haven’t.
If that’s you, I hope you’ll read along.
We’re already in the loop.
Let’s see what kind of signal we can find in the static.
If this resonates, consider subscribing.
I’ll post occasionally. Just thoughtful signals when something’s ready to be shared.
